4MS Company

4MS Company is a pioneering force in the world of electronic music instruments, known for creating innovative, original, and high-quality Eurorack synthesizer modules and DIY kits. Founded in 1996 by Dan Green as 3ms Pedals near Chicago, Illinois, the company initially gained attention for its experimental guitar pedals featuring multiple knobs, custom artwork, and user modifications. After relocating to St. Louis in 1998, Dan expanded the product line to include table-top noise devices for avant-garde and experimental musicians. In 2002, the company rebranded as 4ms Company, marking the launch of groundbreaking projects like the Bend Matrix, a dynamic routing and octophonic mixing device. The move to Austin, Texas in 2009 marked 4ms’s transition into the Eurorack modular synth scene, where it began building a reputation for advanced, creative sound tools.

Today, 4ms operates from Portland, Oregon, nestled along the Willamette River in the heart of the West Coast's vibrant synth-building community. All 4ms modules are meticulously hand-assembled, tested, and designed to push the boundaries of sound design. Their catalog includes unique tools like polyrhythmic clock modules, resonator filters, chaos generators, and morphing oscillators—each engineered to inspire experimentation and transform how music is created. With an ethos rooted in originality, open-source sharing, and sonic exploration, 4ms not only offers finished products but also supports DIY musicians through kits and documentation. Committed to community empowerment, 4ms regularly donates to the Synth Library at S1 Portland, promoting inclusivity and access through residencies, workshops, and hands-on experiences. Whether you're a modular synth veteran or an experimental artist, 4ms modules redefine what’s possible in electronic music composition and performance.
