Acoustic First

Acoustics First has been at the forefront of sound control innovation since the 1970s. It all began with a deep curiosity about the unique sonic signatures of recording studios and performance venues. Faced with limited information and a lack of commercial acoustic products, the founders took matters into their own hands—designing and building custom diffusers, bass traps, and soundproofing solutions like high-mass barrier walls and resilient clips. Their early work included handcrafting barrel diffusers and introducing these innovations to the industry at major events like the NY AES Convention, where industry icons like Paul (Noel Stookey) of Peter, Paul, and Mary took notice.

By the 1980s and 1990s, Acoustics First had introduced the revolutionary anechoic wedge foam to the broadcast and recording world, becoming the only acoustics supplier at AES New York to present this material. As global demand for professional sound treatment grew, the company expanded with multiple distribution warehouses and a networked sales system. With the turn of the millennium, Acoustics First sharpened its focus solely on acoustic material design, leading to patented innovations that now serve studios, performance spaces, educational institutions, and corporate facilities worldwide. Their commitment to quality and cutting-edge acoustical solutions continues to set industry standards today.
