Hatcher Guitars

At Hatcher Guitars, craftsmanship meets sustainability in every handmade acoustic guitar I create. My journey began in my early teens as a guitarist and evolved through years of fine woodworking, from building custom furniture to crafting cedar strip ocean kayaks. In 2000, these passions came together with the construction of my first guitar. Since then, I’ve honed my skills alongside talented craftsmen and master luthiers, developing a unique approach that emphasizes tone, comfort, aesthetics, and even the subtle scent of carefully selected woods. Each Hatcher guitar—like the Josie SJ model with Ovangkol back and sides—is handcrafted for discerning players who appreciate exceptional fingerstyle acoustics. I focus on using master-grade tonewoods and innovative inlay work, resulting in instruments that feel like lifelong companions the moment they’re picked up.
My commitment to sustainable lutherie is at the heart of every Hatcher Guitar. I source my tonewoods responsibly, often using reclaimed lumber or naturally aged, standing-dead wood that’s over a century old. I prioritize renewable domestic species without compromising on sound or beauty. Options like French Polish finishes minimize environmental impact while enhancing tonal clarity, and I go a step further by composting wood waste and purchasing carbon offset credits to neutralize shipping emissions. Each Hatcher guitar is more than just a finely crafted instrument—it's an environmentally conscious investment in lasting musical expression. Whether you're a collector, performer, or passionate hobbyist, you’ll find your voice in a Hatcher acoustic guitar.
