Aristides Guitars

In 1995, Aristides Guitars had a breakthrough concept was born in the Netherlands—what if a guitar could be built from a material with perfect acoustic properties? The idea wasn’t to mimic traditional tonewoods but to exceed them. Through collaboration with the Technical University Delft, a new material named Arium emerged. This proprietary composite was engineered to deliver ideal resonance, sustain, and tonal clarity by replicating and enhancing the best qualities of classic tonewoods. By isolating how sound waves travel through wood at a cellular level, the team sought to create a guitar material that was not only consistent and stable, but also tonally rich and vibrant—free from the limitations of organic variation and environmental sensitivity. This innovation laid the groundwork for a revolution in instrument design.

Fast forward to 2007, when Aristides Guitars officially formed with the mission of harnessing Arium’s potential through expert craftsmanship and cutting-edge technology. Rather than simply producing alternative-material instruments, Aristides focused on designing guitars that met the highest standards of playability, tone, and aesthetics. The company developed a unique “shell + core” chambered construction process, combining Arium with reinforcing fibers to enhance resonance, reduce weight, and increase durability. This fusion of advanced materials with traditional luthier techniques allowed Aristides to step beyond novelty, delivering high-performance instruments that cater to the needs of modern players while pushing the boundaries of what a guitar can be.
