A Tempo Percusion

A TEMPO PERCUSSION is a Peruvian company dedicated to the design and craftsmanship of wood-based percussion instruments, with a strong emphasis on artistic quality and musical versatility. Founded by Alexis Castañeda—an economist, musician, and luthier from a family of third-generation woodworkers—the company began in 1997 with the creation of Peruvian Cajons, guided by the expertise of master cajonero Eusebio Sirio “Pititi”, one of the most iconic figures in Afro-Peruvian music. Alexis used his deep understanding of woodworking to craft instruments that not only respect traditional roots but also push the boundaries of tone and playability. In 1999, he began selling under the brand A TEMPO Instruments Musicales, which later became A TEMPO PERCUSSION, marking the start of a brand that would earn global recognition.
Over the years, A TEMPO PERCUSSION has continued to evolve by listening closely to the needs of percussionists—from beginners to professionals—constantly refining its instruments to enhance playability, sound quality, and aesthetic appeal. Known for their unique use of multi-colored wood inlays, their cajons are not only instruments but works of art. With over 26,000 instruments sold worldwide, the brand remains committed to exploring new sound possibilities and enhancing the musical experience. A TEMPO PERCUSIÓN sees its work as a service to musicians and as an expression of gratitude to God—the source of all sound. Guided by the principle: “Whatever you do, do it from the heart, as for the Lord and not for men” (Colossians 3:23), the company blends craftsmanship, spirituality, and musical passion in every instrument it creates.
