14-bit MIDI is a high-resolution extension of the standard 7-bit MIDI protocol, offering 16,384 discrete steps compared to the 128 steps of 7-bit MIDI. This increased resolution is achieved by combining two MIDI Control Change (CC) messages: one for the Most Significant Byte (MSB) and another, 32 CC numbers higher, for the Least Significant Byte (LSB) .
