3Dio

3Dio is a pioneering audio technology company specializing in binaural and immersive 3D audio recording, delivering ultra-realistic spatial soundscapes that transport listeners into the heart of the recording environment. At the core of 3Dio’s technology are their industry-leading FS Series microphones, which use anatomically accurate silicone ears to capture sound just as a human would hear it. These microphones are used worldwide by musicians, filmmakers, sound designers, and ASMR creators to record environments with stunning realism and depth. Whether capturing the delicate harmonies of a choir or the sweeping dynamics of a symphony orchestra, 3Dio microphones provide a 360-degree sonic experience that fully envelops the listener when played back on headphones. A notable example is the Abbe Road A Cappella group, whose performance of Carol of the Bells recorded around a 3Dio FS Pro II mic offers a spellbinding demonstration of true spatial audio.

Founded by Jeffrey Anderson in 2012 after years of research and experimentation with surround and binaural audio, 3Dio was born from a dream of multichannel audio realism. With a background in electrical engineering and a passion for immersive sound, Jeff perfected the ear design that would become the cornerstone of 3Dio’s success. In 2015, Brian Anderson, a lifelong musician and experienced audio producer, joined the company full-time, helping expand its creative and business reach. In 2022, the duo expanded their vision by acquiring Folktek, a boutique manufacturer of Eurorack synth modules and electro-acoustic instruments. With this move, Jeff and Brian committed to continuing Folktek’s legacy of artistic innovation, blending sonic experimentation with visually striking hardware—positioning 3Dio at the intersection of immersive audio capture and avant-garde sound design.
